This is the banana cake recipe you have been looking for. It is easy to make and full of banana and chocolate flavor. The cream cheese adds a lot of richness and I cover it with dark chocolate shavings to balance that.

Ingredients Needed:

To make the Banana Cake you will need mashed bananas, eggs, vegetable oil, castor sugar (super fine), brown sugar, milk, pure vanilla extract, all–purpose flour, baking powder and baking soda.

To make the Cream Cheese Chocolate Frosting you will need cream cheese, chocolate hazelnut spread (Nutella), vanilla extract and cocoa powder.

How to Make Banana Chocolate Cheese Cake

Making the Cake

Preheat oven to 350F (180C). Grease and flour an 8–inch round pan and set aside.
In a stand mixer fitted with whisk, or using a hand mixer, whisk the eggs and sugar until doubled in volume. Add the mashed bananas, oil, milk and vanilla. Mix well until well combined.

In a separate bowl sift together flour, baking powder and baking soda. Add to the egg mixture and mix until just combined. Pour batter in the prepared pan and bake for 50–55 minutes until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

Cool the cake in the pan for 15 minutes and then turn onto rack and leave to cool completely.

Preparing the Cream Cheese Chocolate Frosting

While the cake is baking, work on your chocolate cream cheese frosting by adding all ingredients to a mixing bowl and whisking them with a hand mixer until well combined and a smooth frosting is formed.

Assembling the Cake

Slice your cooled cake to 3 equal layers. Spread 1/3 of your frosting on the bottom layer and top with the middle layer. Repeat the same step until you have all 3 layers covered with frosting from top and around.

Garnish with shaved dark chocolate and chill the cake for 2 hours before serving.

You can also enjoy it with a scoop of vanilla or pistachio ice cream.
