Halloween Cupcakes – moist, delicious and very easy to make. These chocolate cupcakes are the perfect spooky treat for Halloween.
My kids’ favorite celebration is Halloween. They wait for it every year so they can wear their costumes and go on trick or treat in the neighborhood—not to forget the buckets of candies they collect while they are doing that.
Halloween is upon us, and it is a fun time for kids and adults equally. This is the time of the year where everyone gets creative in costumes, home decoration and also with food.
This year I am making a handful of treats for the kids, including these fun and delicious Halloween Cupcakes.
This cupcake recipe is a variation of my Chocolate Chip Cupcakes but with Halloween colors, decorated with little pumpkins, witches and ghost props.

- Sift together flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda and salt. Whisk to combine, and set aside.
- Melt chocolate in microwave for one minute and let cool to room temperature.
- In the bowl of an electric mixer, using paddle attachment, beat the oil and sugar on medium–high speed until well blended. Then, add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition and scraping down the sides of the bowl with a rubber spatula as necessary. Beat in the vanilla and chocolate until well blended.
- In a small bowl, whisk the yogurt and milk. At low speed, add the flour mixture to the egg mixture in three additions, alternating with the yogurt mixture in two additions and mixing just until blended.
- Spoon the batter in prepared muffin cups and bake for 20–25 minutes until a toothpick inserted into the center of a cupcake comes out clean. Cool in pan, then on wire rack for 15 minutes.
Making the frosting
- In the bowl of an electric mixer, using wire attachment, whip the cream, sugar and vanilla until stiff peaks form. Add food color and mix with spatula until you get desired color. Keep chilled until ready to use.
